All the information about when the road is open, what tickets cost … Villach Alpine Road is open year-round. In the winter season – from mid-November to mid-April – the town of Villach maintains this mountain road. The ticket prices depend entirely on which vehicle you want to use on the Villach Alpine Road.

Current information on the passability of the road is deactivated during the winter season (i.e. not available online).
Costs:
Access to the Villacher Alpenstraße is free of charge in winter. However, parking spaces are subject to a fee – parking tickets are available from the parking ticket machine.

One way ticket
E-CAR = electric car and hydrogen car. Not a hybrid vehicle. It is the responsibility of the driver to indicate that the vehicle is electric or hydrogen-powered in order to receive the discounted e-fare. As proof, the driver may be asked to show the registration certificate at the ticket office. A subsequent refund is not possible.
Season ticket
They can only be purchased for private vehicles (not for company cars, taxis and rental cars and car-sharing vehicles or other commercial uses). Classification is determined by vehicle registration certificate only (Austrian Terms of Vehicle Use 01).
Motorcycle & E-Motorcycle
One way ticket
Only for 100 % electric motorbikes. It is the responsibility of the driver to indicate that the vehicle is electric or hydrogen-powered in order to receive the discounted e-fare. The category “car” includes motor homes up to 3500 kg (GVWR) and caravan combinations with a towing vehicle up to 3500 kg GVWR. Motor homes and caravans with towing vehicles from 3500 kg to 7500 kg GVWR are categorized as “Truck 1”; over 7500 kg GVWR are categorized as “Truck 2”.

EXPLANATION OF THE BUS PRICES
Bus prices are based on the actual number of passengers carried, excluding the driver and one tour guide. However, the cashier may check the vehicle to verify this information. If the specified number of persons is incorrect, then instead of the group rate, the adult rate will be charged for the actual number of seats stated in the vehicle’s registration certificate.
For group trips of schoolchildren or adolescents up to the age of 18, the child rate will be charged. One accompanying adult is free per 10 children.

TRUCK 2: Trucks, tractors and other freight pulling vehicles over 3500 kg maximum gross vehicle weight (GVWR).
The return trip on the same day is free of charge.
Other important information
- If you are staying the night in accommodation along the road, you don’t have to pay any extra upon exit – even after a longer stay.
- Camping is not permitted by the authorities along the Villach Alpine Road and there are no approved campsites in the vicinity of the road.
- Your licence plate details will automatically be captured via video camera at the cash points.
- With the Carithia Card you can use the Nockalm Road once per day, incl. all the nature park facilities (excluding Alpengarten). For any person/s in the vehicle who are not Carinthia Card holders, there is a charge of € 7.00 per person.
