Villach Alpine Road:
Panoramic road to the Dobratsch 

Spanning 16.5 kilometres in length, Villach Alpine Road proceeds up to the Dobratsch – Villach’s local mountain. Taking in seven hairpin bends, several gentle bends and with a moderate incline, this mountain road winds its way up to 1200 metres altitude – to Rosstratte, the end and high point of Villach Alpine Road. On the way to the top,  this panoramic road offers superb viewing points, spanning three countries – extending to the Julian Alps in Italy and Slovakia, and to the Karawanken in Carinthia. Those who venture out on to ‘Skywalk’, which hovers 400 metres above the ‘Rote Wand’, can get an idea of what it feels like to be a honey buzzard flying above the Dobratsch ... 

Parking for a fee from 15th November to 15th April

In the period 15.11. to 15.4. (winter season), the City of Villach acts as the road maintenance authority for the Villach Alpine Road. This information on road condition is deactivated during the winter season!

The ‘Herrscher der Lüfte’ (‘Rulers of the Skies’) exhibition, in Aichingerhütte is devoted to the exceptional variety of birds that are found in the region.
