Opening Hours
In the period 15.11.2023 to 15.4.2024 (winter season), the City of Villach acts as the road maintenance authority for the Villach Alpine Road. This information on trafficability is deactivated during the winter season!
Parking for a fee – parking ticket available at the parking ticket vending machine.
The Villach Alpine Road is open all year round and requires an admission fee
from mid-April to mid-November.
No motorcycles between 8.00 pm and 7.00 am
Access prohibited beyond the ticket office in the following period:
June 1 to August 31 from 10.00 pm to 4.00 am
September 1 to May 31 from 9.30 pm to 5.00 am

Season ticket
Season tickets are valid from the first day of the season until winter closing, but no later than 31 December of the year issued. Season tickets can only be purchased for private vehicles (not for company cars, taxis and rental cars or other commercial uses). Classification is determined by vehicle registration certificate only (Austrian Terms of Vehicle Use 01).
Eco-Ticket
Electric cars and hydrogen cars. No hybrid car.
*MOTOR HOMES
The category "car" includes motor homes up to 3500 kg maximum gross vehicle weight (GVWR) and caravan combinations with a towing vehicle up to 3500 kg GVWR.
Motor homes and caravans from 3500 kg to 7500 kg GVWR are categorized as "Truck 1"; vehicles over 7500 kg GVWR are categorized as "Truck 2".

The return trip on the same day is free of charge.

Bus group (per person)
Up to 6 passenger or empty bus costs € 23,40. The return trip on the same day is free of charge. Children in the age of 6-15 years, accept of groups of pupils (up to the age of 18, the child rate will be charged).
EXPLANATION OF THE BUS PRICES
Bus prices are based on the actual number of passengers carried (but not below the minimum price), excluding the driver and one tour guide. However, the cashier may check the vehicle to verify this information. If the specified number of persons is incorrect, then instead of the group rate, the adult rate will be charged for the actual number of seats stated in the vehicle’s registration certificate.
For group trips of schoolchildren or adolescents up to the age of 18, the child rate will be charged. One accompanying adult is free per 10 children.

Kärnten Card
Free use of the Villach Alpine Road (1 free admission every day) including several facilities (except for the alpine botanic garden). For all passengers who don‘t show Kärnten Card will be charged an additional fee of € 6,-/person.
Camping
The Nature Conservation Act and the Nature Conservation Ordinance permit camping only at officially approved campsites. There are no campsites directly in the street area of the Villacher Alpine Road. Camping along the road is therefore prohibited.
