Infomation point

A number of rest areas and information points along the Villach Alpine Road invite visitors to linger:

  • Parking lot 2: "Stadt- und Seenblick" rest area (862 m) View of Villach and the Carinthian lakes
  • Parking lot 4: Information on rare bird species on the Dobratsch
  • Parking lot 5: "Wurzelboden" rest area (1,307 m): In addition to the view, this rest area is also a picnic area. Information on forest birds found on the Dobratsch.
  • Parking lot 6:
    • "Alpengarten" (1,403 m): Over 900 types of alpine flowers are presented on an area of 10,000 m2 (extra admission!).
    •  Next door: "Rote Wand" observation platform offering a dramatic view of the broken rock.
    • Information point describing the Dobratsch landslide area, the Red Wall and the Dobratsch as a bird sanctuary and migration zone for birds of prey.
  • Parking lot 11: Rosstratte (1,732 m):
    • Geology trail "From the ocean to the mountain": exhibits up to 200 million years old: reef, lagoon, corals and seashells at the foot of the Dobratsch summit.
    • "Rosstratte" themed children's playground
    • Bikers Point for motorcycle fans
    • Rosstrattenstüberl Restaurant, 1,732 m
    • Point of departure for hikes: the hiking trail to the top of the Dobratsch (2,167 m) overcoming a 400-meter difference in altitude is a 90-minute walk for families.
    • Lounges: a center of attraction to relax, meditate and regenerate.
